Surface Pro 4 Audio Jack standards

Hey there,

I recently purchased some Sennheiser Urbanite headphones for listening to music on my iphone/ipad, but also tend to use them for audio calls with my phone as well. Sennheiser offers two variations of their wired headphones, IOS and Android, and from what I have read this relates to the TRRS standard being used by newer and older devices.

The headphones work perfectly on my Apple devices, but when I use them on my SP4, the microphone doesn't work. Windows sees I have a headphone connected in the playback and recording devices, but no matter what, shows no audio input.

Does anyone know if this is a common issue with the Surface Pro 4 maybe only using TRS for the stereo channels and microphone instead of the more modern TRRS standard? I just can't seem to find any info about this online, so thought I would check with this group.
