Sometimes when I activate Living Weapon, I immediately have control and can attack freely without going through a cinematic first, but how?

I usually would prefer to just snap into Living Weapon and immediately have control, not go through the drawn out cinematic, but I haven't been able to figure out why it doesn't do it sometimes. Anybody know?
