OTTAWA/ONTARIO - Brother asked to go in for questioning on Monday, detective refused to answer why.
Hey there,
My brother was asked to go in for questioning by a detective earlier today who approached his employer today and left a card. My brother contacted the detective who informed him that he was required to go in for questioning and refused to answer any questions stating that he would not speak about anything over the phone. My brother is wondering what his rights are regarding going in for questioning as the detective stated that depending on his statements he may want to "talk to somebody" (refusing to say the word lawyer apparently). He has no idea what he is walking into, what it is about, or why this detective approached his employer and did not try to contact him directly. I'm just looking to find out what his options are and if there is anyone he can contact for more information. Thanks!
