Battleground of the Obelisk Question

I don't know if this question's been answered before. I know in order to get the avatar and site theme one has to participate in at least ten battles. Can I fight the same four challengers multiple times and have that count? I'm asking because my BD pet is still has very low stats :/ Any advice?
