What is the best way to configure a Wifi router for live use?
My band uses the Presonus RM16ai board with a powered FOH system. We use the RM16 with UC Surface for control. All this is connected via wifi with a wireless router in the rack.
Along with the router, there are two Carvin EM900 wireless monitor receivers operating in the 500mhz range. There is also the bass player's wireless, a Sennheiser operating in the 600mhz range. Our singer uses a Shure wireless Beta (unsure of the model). The receiver for the wireless mic normally sits on top of the rack. The singer also uses a Line 6 G30 wireless for her acoustic.
On stage, there are a minimum of 4 devices connected to the router running either UC Surface, Universal Control, or QMixAI. We use the wifi connection to mix our own monitors with our phones.
I recently purchased a wireless setup for my guitar, an Xvive U2 system. This system operates in the 2.4ghz range, which I am assuming is bad because the router could cause interference.
I noticed at rehearsal tonight that I was getting some cutouts in the signal, but also that my receiver was less than 5 feet away from the rack, containing that wireless menagerie.
Is there a way to configure a wifi router to minimize interference and/or maximize performance in a live sound environment?
