[Alberta, Canada] How do I divorce if my partner is in another country?

I just found out my husband has been cheating on me for months and that he plans to elope to another country with his mistress. Is he legally allowed to do that? How do I proceed with divorce or deal with property settlement if he is in another country? We have a large mortgage and no savings (or so he claims) and I do not have a job so if he leaves I would not be capable of paying the mortgage or supporting myself. I think his plan is to hide in another country and leave me to deal with all our debt. This can't possibly be legal...can it?
