Scales Question - pizzicato - D Major

So my instructor taught me scales two days ago and gave me the D major scale to practice. I won't see him again until next Wednesday... But I feel like the jump between the D string and the A string is too big. Specifically, it's between notes G and A. Maybe my cello is out of tune or my fingers are in the wrong place? I can't yet tune a cello (nor have I been shown how) and I don't have tapes on my instrument other than a spot on the back of the neck telling me where to place my thumb.

I am new to cello but remember scales from my chorus days years ago, which is why I'm thinking this sounds... wrong. I'm only plucking scales right now, and not necessarily very well lol.

Here's a brief recording. I'm in D major, going from the top of the scale to the bottom and then back up. I apologize if anything is sharp or flat or just plain wrong, heh, but I'm basically going into this blind.

Thanks in advance. If you guys know of anywhere I can find a good recording of scales, either plucked or bowed, I would love a link to them so I can check myself as I go.
