Benefit of strength + dex?

This might be a stupid question but I have two main characters, one strength and one str+dex (same level)

It looks for the most part that an S scaling strength weapon gets roughly the same increase as B scaling in str+dex.

Is that typically the case? Should I just choose strength or dex and get an S scaling weapon and put the other points somewhere else?
