Pre Assessment Time Limit

Apologies for the (probably) noob question: Are you able to "pause" time on the pre-assessment? Only reason I ask is I was thinking of splitting it up over 2 sessions tomorrow at work. So if you close out of it, does the time pause you can open it back up and continue? Or once the clock starts, do you only have that much time before it locks you out?
