Anal fissure without pain for 6 weeks, what does it mean and what should I expect in the future?
18/M/5'10/135lb. I was diagnosed with an anal fissure recurrence, and this has gone on for the past 6 weeks. Diarrhea caused the fissure to re-open, however that's been treated a while back and I have more solid stools now (~4-5 on the Bristol stool scale), along with less blood overall. I have had no pain at all, and have been using Hydrocortisone USP 2.5 cream to treat it, along with eating a better diet. I've had a few days here and there where there wasn't much, if any blood in my stool and other days where I've seen blood on the TP.
Since it's been 6 weeks though, I'm worried this is becoming chronic. My sphincter muscle is tight alot of the time, even though I've taken an Epsom salt bath everyday for 20 minutes. With all the treatment I've been doing, I'm also worried that this may not be enough, and I may have to consider surgical options, or my skin will continue to thin with the Hydrocortisone cream.
The one upside to my condition, albeit a bit disturbing, is that I have had absolutely no pain, whatsoever. I don't know what this means, because I've read about other people having lots of pain with their fissure. In a way, I almost wished I felt some sort of pain with my fissure, because that would give me a much better gauge as to which treatments, foods, or activities would work best for me. Does no pain mean my condition is less severe, more chronic... what does it mean?
Aside from that, I really don't have much to complain aside from the fact that I'm worried about what may happen to me in the future if the bleeding doesn't stop. I'd like to see less blood on my stool so I can stop worrying and one day go back to eating what I love and doing more physically demanding exercises.
