[Suggestion] Extend API capabilities and make easier to identify two characters from the same account
Here is the scenario:
You find some cool items for your next build on poe.trade. You send a message to ZeHatCrafter about a helmet with a convenient enchant, a message for BigBobBlades about a high crit dagger and a message for WaistinTime about an extra endurance belt.
30 minutes later you get a message from LevelingThisWitch with "Hi, sorry about the waiting. Do you still need it?"
In this situation you could just say "Sorry, which one I asked you?" and continue from there. But what if you had a way to identify when different messages come from a single account?
So that's my need: I'm making an extended tool like POE Trades Helper, where you can track the trading messages you got and send templated messages with a press of a button. But I'm also saving the history of the trade so you can see how all your trades went. For that, if I'm not able to match the message from LevelingThisWitch with the trade from BigBobBlades, that can't be as useful as it should.
I'm already parsing incoming poe.trade messages and if that API existed I could make a section that when I send
@Sensei_Shane Hi, I would like to buy your Call of the Brotherhood Two-Stone Ring listed for 30 chaos in Breach
I would get a row with
Call of the Brotherhood Two-Stone Ring (30 chaos) : Sensei_Shane
and when Sensei_Steve replied with "ok", the row would be updated to
Call of the Brotherhood Two-Stone Ring (30 chaos) : Sensei_Steve
I've chosen that example because this player had the item in a thread on the forum, so I could enter the thread, click his profile and see an alternative character name on his account.
If you are logged on the website and click here, you will see all your characters. If the player has lowered his privacy, you can see theirs too.
Getting from an account to a character is hard but doable, but getting from a character to an account as it is now is just not feasible. As just identifying that two characters are owned by the same account is enough, the API could only reply with an UUID and no personal information would be exposed.
Could that be added to the API, pretty please?
(It'll probably help if I had beta testers for the tool I'm developing. Send me a message if that caught your attention.)
