[christians only] i can't accept the book of ezekiel

it seems to me that God was very cruel to ezekiel and i don't know why a benevolent God would make the people who love Him do the things he made ezekiel do. i'd like help with this, as i have had a hard time trusting God, or at the very least, trusting the bible as a divinely inspired collection of exactly 66 books chosen by some council 500 years ago
