Can't remove this Dell Inspiron 13 Battery cable, any tips?

I've tried for 30 minutes trying to get this battery cable out of the motherboard, but each time I pull the black covering slowly rips off so I'm pretty scared I'm going to break it. I need to do this to a second laptop as well, the next one isn't mine. Any tips anyone?

EDIT: I used a thin flat screw driver head to push it out from the end of the plug, thanks for the help guys!!!!!
