Quick ram question. Couldn't find anything online.

Might just be terrible at searching too. Anyways salvaged some ddr3 ram from an old asus k52f I had laying around. It is a 2gb ddr3 pc3-10600.

Thinking about throwing it in my lenova ideapad 500. However, the compatible ram I can find for it is ddr3 pc3-12800 and above.

Bit newbish so will my salvaged ram still work with the newer top? Or no? And bonus what is this pc3 designation?

And just realized, so bonus two, I haven't opened up the ideapad yet. I know it has two banks but are they both already spoken for? And if so will this 2 gb even be of benefit?
