Have any of you dated someone you considered a "friend?" How did it go?

I'm not talking "super bestie Ill tell you all my secrets" kinda thing, more or less a more casual.

I ask becuase I recently started hanging out with someone I knew back in Highschool, getting drinks, going to the arcade etc, and one thing lead to another and we're now a thing. Just curious how this went for anyone else.
