Suggestions from the Korean community - Blocking damages should be stronger for a more aggressive game playing.

Suggestions

I'm a Korean user, so please excuse any wrong translations of in-game terms. This suggestion is not only personal, but a gathering from a large gaming community called Ruliweb (http://bbs.ruliweb.com/pc/board/184260). We hope this suggestion can reach Ubisoft by this reddit thread.

The current for honor duel mechanism eventually concludes to a parry/guardbreaking/guardbreaking counter: a rock paper scissor psychological game. For users from average-above average, it is easily noticeable that 'attacking first' is a losing gesture, because people who are usually good enough can effectively block or parry such attacks. This means a duel ends up being a series of very careful and defensive gestures attempting to bring out the opponents attacks to parry for oneself; heavy attack feinting is used to force the opponent to 'parry' which when feinted, will become a normal heavy attack, which again, can be parried - thus giving a good chance for a guaranteed guardbreak.

Therefore, ultimately a skillful player can be defined as a person who maintains his block stance, does not react to feints, counters incoming guardbreaks and carefully blocks the incoming attacks, calmly waiting for the opponents' mistakes or parrying chances. It may seems a very hard thing to do when described, but believe me it is not. All one needs to do is wait and block attacks unless he can confirm it is not a feint, even if it is not, there is no loss since one will end up simply blocking the heavy attack.

Currently the game system lacks a punishable action for such defensive strategy. Everything ends at this point and the one who makes a mistake (attacking) is the one who loses. This game mechanism is simple, yet psychologically complicated that gives the game such fun factors. However, the cons of this system is that players become too defensive: the overall gameplay of duels becomes excessively slow and anti-climatic.

As a big fan of For Honor, and a lover of pvp, we believe a slight change can bring more aggressive game play: higher block damages. The Korean community believes this will be able to force one's behavior of becoming excessively defensive.

Let's say blocking a heavy attack causes the defender to lose about a half-block of his health. He will not be able to maintain the defensive position if he allows such blocking to continue...

There seems to be a factor of 'block damage' when viewing some item options, however they tend to be ignorable; this needs to be noticeable.

How do you think about this? Please give some support so it can reach Ubisoft!

Thank you,
