My Problem with Siege mode and an idea to fix it
Hey, I just started playing Paladins, and I just can't see Siege being a competitively fair game mode. The fact that a team can capture the point 3 times in a row but fail to push payload making the game an even 3 - 3, and then if the opposition captures the point for the first time in all 4 rounds, but because it happens to be the last round it ends in their victory without even proving they can push the payload as well, just doesn't seem fair to the other team who have shown to be the more dominant team most of the game.
An idea would be to make defending against the payload a half point or no point at all. The whole idea of defense is not letting the other team score, most game or sport if any, don't have a mechanic where defense scores them points. The whole point of defense is to prevent scoring. So it just doesn't make sense how the defending team has the ability to score the equal amount as the team that is aiming to score on offensive side. It's like if a team in basketball was able to score without ever having the possession of the ball.
I'd suggest a system where defending gave half the points capturing the point, otherwise capturing the point would be the only important objective and the incentive to push the payload is decreased by too much. For example say the points go up to 8 instead of 4, and capturing and pushing the payload successfully gave you 2 points each while defending a payload gave you one point. This way you still get an advantage for being the more proactive team that takes the objective, but also having a reason to get the payload through to widen your gap and not let them get any points.
What is everyone's thoughts? Do you think Siege is fair? Why or Why not? If not, what would you do to change it?
