I need to learn mathematics!
I'm a 25 year old who just started an advanced diploma in engineering technology (civil). I have not done mathematics since I finished high school.
I've just finished week two and have available to me all the topics that we will be touching on for mathematics. We'll, it's a lot. Obviously. The course guide stated that no prerequisites were required but by now I've judged that having a good foundation would've helped out immensely. The teacher presents the information in a way that is nothing like high school was. She gives a sheet and expects us to work in groups and approach her if we have any trouble. No going through rules/laws etc. At best, maybe a worked example on the board but each question present a new hurdle.
I'm trying to self teach myself and use a learning resource that is provided by the university where experienced students help struggling students with their work. It's helped greatly but I find I need to learn mathematics in a way that was presented in high school.
Some of thetopics I need to learn are:
algebraic operations
number systems/unit conversions/real numbers
straight line graphs
Cartesian and polar coordinates
quadratic equations
geometry
trigonometry
basic statistics
What are the best resources to learn these topics? Books, websites, anything.
