Pedo asked us to stop antibiotic course to see if our 10 month old is allergic to it.
Does this seem odd? Son showed hives after three days of a seven day course of amoxicillin for an ear infection that spread to his throat. Every bit of advice I have ever received about antibiotics is that you never stop taking them in the middle of the course. Always finish.
The doc said to give it two days to see if the rash clears up and to see if maybe the infection will heal on its own.
If my son has an allergic reaction, I assume we head to the dr and get a new antibiotic, not stop taking the current one for 2 days to see.
Have any of you guys heard anything like this before?
Edit: for clarification
