Should I switch to Overwatch?
Hello, first things first a brief background info segment. I had the shittiest laptop for years and as such I could only play video games casually do to the frequent frame drops and such. However I have always wanted to try to play video games competitively if I ever got the chance. Finally bought myself a new gaming PC.
I first went back to league but the lack of voice chat and lack of player understanding of coordination and team fights was infuriating. I then tried CS:GO and was immediately hooked but as I climbed very slightly in rank I noticed I was losing a lot of my matches once again to a lack of teammates with mics and people not cooperating. I wound up having to carry my team through the first couple rounds with my shooting skills that just outclassed others of a similar rank(aim for the head and don't move while you shoot...it wasn't that hard). The toxicity eventually got to me and so I left and tried to play Overwatch.
I did the typical week and half of aim practice, micro practice, movement practice, and learning general strategies of the game like team comp, counter picks, positioning on maps etc. I applied these in quick play to an amazing effect and had a win rate of like 70%. I then switched back over to competitive and the same issues occurred. Teammates without mics that wouldn't type and wouldn't listen to my shot calls but would never suggest any of there own, never made position call outs, just UGH!!!
I'm now 1-2 for my ranked matches and I'm worrying that I made the wrong choice. At least back in CS:GO I could reliably 1v2 or 1v3 dependent on the situation, but when the game is so team focused I cant just run in to a 1v2 v anyone and expect to win here. I don't want the only solution to be to find a group who's schedule I have to plan around or have to make the switch to a single player competitive like SCII, RoA, and god forbid hearthstone. Is there anything else I can do, or is this just the situation I'm being given?
