What I think about monsters vs. real monsters.
Monsters aren't really monsters are they? They're just creatures, like animals but bigger, more dangerous. It's funny how many monsters are just bigger versions of animals that actually exists. A real monster is a concept. A living natural disaster. Something that seems to contradict reality. Not just some animal like a werewolf or giant bug. They shouldn't be possible. They shouldn't exist but somehow they do. Something so horrendous and devastating that your mind just rejects it. They're impossible to understand because they don't make sense. There's nothing hard to understand about vampires or zombies. They're right there in front of you. You can see them, fight them. Monsters aren't cute, ugly, cruel or even scary. They're indescribable. We don't have words in any language that can capture the feeling of a monstrosity. We don't fear them because they're "scary". We're afraid because they exist in the unknown. It's the fact that we can't know them that scares us. We can't predict them or reason with them. No amount of spikes or claws or fangs will ever be as horrifying as the unknown. An unknown that lives and breathes and stares right back at you when you stare at it. I wonder if it's possible to outrun a monster.
