Essential oils in the system?

I don't yet have an aquaponics system but I am almost done building my greenhouse and about to start building my system. I was just curious if anybody has, or has heard of someone using essential oils in there system to combat any pests that may occur. If you had absolute top grade essential oils and maybe diluted in water and used in a spray bottle, would this work to kill/ward off bugs if they occur? Maybe peppermint or eucalyptus or tea tree etc. I know you can use essential oils in a traditional garden for mold/pests.
