Tips on how to enter Hidden Stance?

Ive been playing nobushi and im trying to go into hidden stance for dodges/mixups and all my character does is change her guard direction when i press down. The only way i can actually get her to go into hidden stance is by spamming down until she decides to stop changing her guard. Any tips on how to go into hidden stance cleanly?
