Was waiting on Cannon Lake a mistake? Intel releasing yet another 14 nm chip.

I was looking at the future of my i7 3770k as i have had it for quite some time now. Cannon lake and 10 nm was assured by intel over the last year or so and the above article says it will be a 14 nm chip with yet another boost. Can anyone here shed some light or help me not feel so disappointed. Intel is claiming to have a 3 year lead on the industry but i am starting to feel some of it may be hot air. Should i hope cannon lake is 10 worth my time?
