Grimm Ex-Machina [Spoilers]
#Don't read this if you don't want spoilers.
I'm really frustrated right now.
I've been watching the show (kinda binge watching it) and got to season 5. Now I'm sure this has come up many times already. Why did this ex-machina bullshit happen? Please stay till the end, or at least #6 which is the real nail in the coffin for me.
#1. Random grimm guy in Europe dies, fine
#2. Someone related to our Portland group both obtains his Grimm supplies and knows about Nick and wants to help him. Pushing it, but fine. Plot has to move along somehow.
#3. Uncle dies letting the characters get off without having to pay a dime for the new information, eliminating any point to actually having this decision in the first place. Can't say I didn't see it coming, but it would've been nice to have the characters actually have to make a sacrifice to obtain this information. Upsetting but normal.
#4. Uncle comes not only with the books he promises, but the crate which had no reason to leave the house of the grimm it came from, let alone be shipped to Portland when he got here. How did he justify taking the case when they just wanted him to examine the books? Bit sketchy.
#6. This trunk has 3 keys. Yes, three. You know how Sean Renard said the royals have 4 keys? Guess they lost two and it wasn't big information or anything. So much for a run down with the royals for the remaining keys. Who needs that when you can drop them on the main characters lap for no reason and with no explination?
#7. Apparently you don't need every key to find this supposed legendary weapon that all the knights didn't want found. So I guess they might as well have given him all 7 keys for what it was really worth.
#8. I would expect that the item in the box would have some huge, season-defining effect for all the ex-machina bullshit layed on to give Nick the item in such a fucking hurry in the first place, but I guess it wasn't that immediate after all. Guess we compromised the show's integrity for nothing.
Seriously. What the fuck happened? There were a lot of interesting developments going on - Adalind's relationship with Nick was one of the more fascinating things I've seen in a show like this.
Whoever wrote this pointless ex-machina nonsense deserves to never write anything, ever again. It's going to take me a long time to pick it back up again or to trust it to not go batshit bonkers.
