How does N64 perform?

Sorry if this question is annoying, but I'm not really seeing clear answers from anyone. Basically, I'm not going to bother with n64 games unless I can play them at full speed with minor issues. I've seen many roms being described as "playable" (including on the compatibility list ), while other people have claimed that they can't get to it to work well enough. What is playable?
