Friend Might Be Waking Up

Last week my friend who is a JW that I've known since childhood messaged me on my new instagram account. He asked if we could meet up for drinks which was super exciting as I'm sure you know, since I thought I would be considered dead basically by all my friends. (Quick cry in the corner) Anyways, he recently got engaged to a JW girl I know and I think they're genuinely happy and in love. So I'm happy for them, but they're 21.. and so young to be making forever decisions. I think alcohol (can I get a hallelujah) was the only reason he listened to me talk freely about why I don't believe in the organization anymore. He said he had started to have some doubts because of the unfair treatment he has been receiving from the Elders (withholding privileges). He seemed really surprised when I said we're the only ones who believe Jerusalem fell in 607 b.c. He said that he believes there's something special about the organization. But he feels that America and its' apathy is the problem. And of course still very stuck on the "we have the most languages translated and that's proof" mantra. Anyways. I think it was a success. He said we should do it again sometime, maybe he'll do some thinking in the meantime...
