Maybe I'm just late to the party or a slow learner?

In RITR, I just realized in rave mode if you jump and melee the ground, grass rises up. Maybe everyone knows this already but I didn't lol. What's everyone's thoughts? What's the grass for? Is this a step for GNS 2?
