Karls III's insane belief that he was hand picked by Vuugi to lead Frankia into a new era of glorious conquest had an unexpected side effect. He thought that the late Pieter Morșyî was the epitome of evil. One who had taken the holy word of Vuugi and distorted it into an evil doctrine. However, as the Iron Law of Oppression goes, when something is outlawed, it is even more popular. Soon after the ban, Morșyâsm spread like wildfire. With large swaths of Frankia possessing a significant minority of Morșyâsts, and even some small areas have a majority Morșyâst population. After becoming enraged by the spreading of Morșyâsm, he ordered an inquisition. The inquisition had mixed effects, some areas where Morșyâsm was weaker, it was wiped out. However, in areas with strong or more zealous populations, it grew. Frankia directly after the inquisition was religiously divided. Lastly, after the death of Karls III, and Louis I's subsequent legalization of Morșyâsm, the new denomination of Vuugism returned to Frankia with a vengeance. Frankia after the legalization was (minorly) majority Morșyîst, in some places, the Morșyîst population was over 70%.
