PTU 2.6.1c Vanguard Changes

TECHNICAL

Here is a PTU balance change that I found interesting about the Hoplite and Vanguard.

With 2.6.1 PTU, the Vanguard series got balance adjustment. I took a look at the stats and checked out the changes in game.

Here's what stuck out.

When we first saw the release of the hoplite, at 2.6, it was a carbon copy of the warden for flight characteristics and loadout. Looking at the tables, the hoplite will, accelerate a bit better and has a slightly higher top speed. These paper changes made more sense when I spawned them beside each other. The Vanguard Warden picked up four more size 3 missiles. That's a pretty big buff that wasn't added to the hoplite. The internal structure of the hoplite is missing the escape module. That structure and the reduced missile loadout, one could say that the hoplite is lighter. I wanted to see if the ships had the same range so I took them out to the universe. I'm happy to report that for now, they both have the same range.

So what does this mean?

The cheaper Hoplite is lighter and quicker. It offers a specific drop ship role and is a solid heavy fighter. The Other Vanguard ships are a bit heavier and therefore, perform accordingly. They offer a larger missile payload, have living quarters and offer some unique gameplay options.

This was something I noticed for PTU patch 2.6.1 Charlie. This could change in the near future but I wanted to post the update regardless.
