NBD CAAD12 Ultegra 2017
I started cycling seriously in the past 2 years, hit the road more than i ever did and also made a much needed move forward in my career. I have a tacx bushido and been slowly getting better overall.
I figured i could spend around $2.5k for a bike but I dont live in the States , my local distributors dont really have alot of size 56 bikes and my LBS cant even give me a quote. So while being hit with the bug, I decide i can just ship a bike to my brother in Georgia and then bring it home whenever. Cannondale dealer in Georgia offers dont look too appealing and they dont even ship Cannondale, so i decided to try my luck on ebay, I know enough about people who buy 2k bikes and dont really stick to them, been watching for a few weeks. The bike sat for $850 and got it in the end for $1100. I figured paying 1k for this bike wouldnt be such a bad idea since even used, it looked like a dirty bike, with a few marks and full life tires that wasnt ridden much.
I wanted to upgrade from my caad9 105 (5700)I only replaced the wheels on it to Ultegra 6800 which I used for the past year. This bike has the nice spider ring crankset 52-36 and the rest is Ultegra stuff with 11-28 casette. My caad is 50/34 crankset and 12-32 casette. I have plenty of 1 hour climbs and im not sure if the gearing could be off.
I probably wont do any serious racing , maybe try to get on some faster Sportives or Gran fondos.
Since my budget was originally alot higher, I can now look at other options to make this a sweeter ride. Definetly getting a fit and maybe get a power meter (tempted to get the Vectors 2s from nashbar since they are often $450) or just keep a budget for clothing. Maybe at some point could even think of nicer wheels, not sure if carbon wheels are something i will be getting.
