Spot focusing on A7RII?

Hi guys, so I bought a Sony A7rii. I have the zeiss a mount 16-35 2.8 with the Sony adapter that has the auto focus motor in it. However the A7RII isn't letting me use the flexible spot freely anywhere on the image to focus. How do I enable this? Is this an issue because I'm using an A mount lens?
