Starting the game for the first time, any tips?

I just bought a new PS4 Pro. tLoU Remastered disk is sitting besides it waiting to be loaded.

Now this is my first ever console. I've never played any console game before. So my first game on a console is going to be tLoU.

I've even heard it said that once you've played this game, all other games disappoint you.

So far I've avoided spoilers somehow and I know nothing apart from that it's a zombie survival game.

How can I get the most out of my experience? Good suggestions are most welcome!
