What would SOF operations look like during a traditional conflict?
So I was thinking, during insurgency operations and conflicts like Iraq, Afghanistan and Vietnam, we know what SEAL and SOF operations generally are, what how they vary from regular infantry.
But I was thinking, if we got in a conflict with Iran or Russia, what would be the operational difference between SOF and infantry?
In a situation with two clearly defined armies and defined territorial gains, what would be going on?
Assume we had the battle of Tehran. Regular infantry would be doing the door to door, house to house kind go stuff. How would SOF, like SEALS, MARSOC, rangers, etc be utilized?
Thanks for any info.
