Hearing impaired player and raiding
Hi guys - so like the title says, I'm hard of hearing and I wear one hearing aid while I'm profoundly deaf in the other ear. I can hear and converse well in person as long as there's no mumbling involved. As for voice chats... that's a sticky situation for me. With no access to lip-reading, and people talking over each other in group chats, it makes it nearly impossible for me to discern what people are saying. If I'm familiar with someone's voice or it's LOUD and CLEAR then I usually don't have any problems.
Now because of this, I've sort of avoided the raiding scene as I know they are dependant on voice chats. However, I'm highly interested and I'm quick to learn. I read guides on boss/primal fights and watch videos before tackling them on for the first time.
My question is this: will finding a static or people acceptive of my hearing limitations be difficult, in my situation? I know I'll need to work extra hard in memorizing mechanics and such, since I can't really rely on callouts - or maybe I can if it's just like one loud word instead of sentences. Anyway, do you think there will be people willing to work with me? I'm in a great FC but I've yet to tell them about my hearing impairment due to anxiety. I know they'll be awesome about it but it's more me not wanting to make them feel like they need to take me in raid runs out of pittance and sympathy. If there's anything else I can do that doesn't rely on the use of voice chats, any tips would be greatly appreciated! :D
TLDR; I'm hard of hearing and don't use voice chats unless with friends with familiar voices. Will this be difficult for me to find groups to raid endgame with?
