Evangelicalism looks nothing like the found church and early Jewish traditions.
I find Evangelicalism gets branded as a return to the apostolic church, and we should view these fundamental views as "true Christianity."
But looking at how the NT authors write, on top of how early traditions handle the Scriptures (OT), it becomes clear that there is a stark difference.
The NT authors are honest about the fact that they are interpreting the Scriptures very creatively. The Jewish tradition treats them as an ongoing conversation and will debate them.
Evangelicalism would have us believe there are all sorts of non-negotiables, here is how you interpret the Bible. Here are the conclusions you come to. You accept our views as inerrant, and if you disagree it's because you're a compromiser, a liberal Christian that has been seduced by the world.
I find too many Christians to be insufferable.
