Feeling Overwhelmed/Isolated. Just Venting
I'm nearing a huge transition in my education and career track soon, but at the moment it is overwhelming. School lasts 40 hours a week with no wiggle room due to NAACLS requirements for the program. I also work about 15 hours a week at the same facility. This amounts to me being there for a little under 60 hours a week, including 2 meal breaks, over 6 days. I often feel entirely unproductive at school. I can't read the self help books my therapist recommended me because my classmates are extremely nosy and judgemental. I can't crochet (my program director expressly forbids it). Sometimes I can't even study because I have to spend time in the lab watching people do their job (more NAACLS requirements). I end up ruminating or being gossipy and feeling awful about it. It's a weird environment that I know I need to get better about existing in. Gotta work on my anxiety toolkit for there.
Then the isolation. I have very few friends in this area, and I'm okay with that. I just never get to see them. I recently switched phone carriers so I can actually communicate with them, but I can't shake this feeling that I'm boring to talk to. I'll try to start up a conversation but it'll feel like small talk with the very same people that make up my support system. Hell, we sit through each other's panic attacks and having raucous games of Catan and run stupid errands like grocery shopping together. I have this mental block about talking to them daily through text anymore. I notice I tend to revert to complaining. Perhaps this all has something to do with the fact that I have no time to participate in my hobbies, so I feel uninteresting.
I do see a therapist and I do talk about some of these things (some other topics are a bit more pressing). I'm just having a hard day. It was one of those 14 hour doozies. It feels good to get it out.
