Extend Chain companion?

Okay, so I've just made it to A rank in PvP and all of a sudden I'm seeing opponents who are using nothing but machine characters who seemingly have the extend chain ability. I'm getting pegged by Axion Dragons from across the screen who aren't in lined up vertical/horizontal pincers. Is there an extend chain companion that I'm unaware of?
