Pogo not loading after update

One of our trainers is having issues loading the game after updating. It fails to load:

"No I am at home it's not loading it goes both ways I have tried and it's stuck on the same screen flicks me to App Store and I press open takes me back to same screen turned phone on off etc

My shortcut is gone off my phone"

She's not overly technical but I've worked out she doesn't have a PTC account so I'm assuming it's a google account. Is the best course of action uninstall and re-install and hope she knows her google details?
