Ideas for new mission types

Many have complained about the permanent Dark Events making the difficulty curve too high and, mainly, complained there is no way to counter some of them as they happen in areas you haven't reached yet.

One of my complaints is the Rendezvous missions become rather tedious after a while. They're all the same and once you have a certain number of rebels and a certain tech level, I don't find them hard but boring.

Another point I have is that the player is always reactive when it comes to missions. The missions that pop up can be done, or not, but you don't have a say in the type nor the area.

Having read a few other thread of comments, I had an idea for new missions types that could, if they can be programmed, fix all three of these complaints.

  • Create a mission path (3 missions?) that would get rid of the Faceless as an infiltration threat to your havens. Some sort of McGuffin that could detect the Faceless and would require Intel, a piece of tech and knowing where the faceless are created. Do those three missions and your havens can no longer be infiltrated.
  • Another series of mission, possibly one-offs, for each active Dark Event. Each type of Dark Event could require a special mission in a specific area and with a specific mission type. Those extra heavy shield they now have? They're manufactured in Western Europe. You'll have to contact Western Europe and discover their location and then run a mission to destroy the factory.

Both these missions could be something the player could decide to start and might work like a facility lead, where a facility, not related to the Avatar project, would appear on the map. I'm sure there are even more mission types we could come up with that would add even more variety to the game.
