Soft reset at the end of each split

Hello everyone! I dont understand what means "At the end of each Split, we will distribute rewards and do a soft reset of the Ranked Ladder, leading into the next Split.".

If i get rank "Master" in current split then i can lose it and be demoted to diamond at the end of split? And probably it means that i should up to master 3 times, right?
