Do console commands work in this game, if so how do I get them to work?

Ive looked at a couple of how-to posts but they are all several years old. something i noticed is that they tell you that you have to change the little box in the bottom left of the console menu to say bngv but that option isnt even available to me. I want to be able to do commands such as alter gravity.
