Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how do I install dotnet framework 3+?

I've tried using winetricks on existing wrappers, but it tells me that it can't install it since apparently it conflicts with v2. I've also tried installing it on fresh wrappers, and it installs v2 jut fine, but trying to install v3, it gets stuck just after the installer itself says it's finished. I don't think it's actually installed right (plus it won't proceed to v4), so I end up with the same problem. I've tried looking on WineHQ for advice, but I haven't seen anything. Or at least nothing that I could actually understand.

If it's relevant, I'm running Mac OS X 11.6
