To new users coming into the subreddit: Please read and follow the rules

With us being recently added to/r/popular and some posts here hitting reddit's front page, I think we're seeing some users and traffic that probably wouldn't ordinarily browse here. As a reminder:

  • Don't ask for or link directly to pirated software or copyrighted material without permission of the copyright holder.

  • Use Google and check The Emulation General Wiki before posting.

  • Self posts should provide scope for wider, interesting discussion. Simple tech support queries not fulfilling that requirement generally belong in the Weekly Question Thread, and will be redirected there.

  • Please follow reddiquette guidelines. Comments stepping significantly over the line will be removed- use some common sense.

  • Users are permitted to post one emulator demonstration video per day as a link post. Any further videos should be packaged into a self post, accompanied by a submission statement that facilitates discussion. Please abide by reddit's site-wide rules on self-promotion.

  • This is r/emulation - not r/flashcarts or r/consolehomebrew. All off-topic posts will be removed.

  • There are very few playable commercial titles for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, or 3DS emulators. Posts asking which games are playable/what the emulator is called/where to get it will be removed.

Those are the basics. The reddiquette rules in particular are important. In a nutshell: don't be a dick. I'm seeing a lot of nasty stuff in the comments, reports, and otherwise on the subreddit in the last day or two, so felt the need to remind people that incivility won't be tolerated. Nasty, spiteful comments, personal attacks, name calling, and generally being an asshole are not allowed and will get your comments removed. Egregious or repeated offenses will get you temporarily or permanently banned.

This applies to all users, of course, not just new ones.

Otherwise, welcome to r/Emulation. Please enjoy the community, and thanks for taking the time to read this.
