Wait, so what's the deal with the Wives again? [spoilers for Into the Outside]
A bunch of "evil women" monsters turns out to be controlled by an entire dimension composed of living phalluses? Now the true sexism is revealed!
Nah, butt seriously, the whole thing about the Nibovian Wives is that they create monster babies to kill the fathers, their wombs acting as transdimensional portals to bring forth ultraterrestials into the world. So... what does that have to do with Reeval? How is that aligned with the motivations of the Thread? The Thread is fascinated by humans and has them captured and studied, fascinated by their self-awareness and individuality. So, why do they create a woman-golem to send forth various monster babies?
Reeval was an interesting world, but failed to address the biggest question of why the wives operate the way they do. In fact, with the theme of the world, only the guide really makes much sense, unless the children and companion likewise send the bodies back to Reeval. If the wives were just another form of companion or guide, then okay, sure. But what's the point of making their wombs into monster assassin baby transporters? Unless I somehow missed it, I'm not sure how this furthers their "agenda", as it were. Where are they even getting the monsters? Some of it is mixed with human seed, perhaps, but is it otherwise a mutant of other things the Thread has stolen? It's implied the Wives might be responsible for many of the different ultraterrestrials on Earth, but if Reeval isn't planning some kind of infestation-invasion, why dump monsters into the world that serve no real purpose other than to kill a human, which they are ostensibly fascinated with?
