What are good resources on the ontology of systems, especially language?

I've found some information on the ontology of art at the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, and since I think they are related issues, any additional leads in that direction would be helpful too.

I'm a graduate student (of Japanese literature) and I am starting work on a project dealing with the way that ontological issues are explored in fiction.
