Gamer Short on Time Looking for Glory Days
So I'm 25, in grad school so I don't have a lot of free time but I really enjoy unwinding with video games. I've recently been playing a lot of DDR and Overwatch and I love both those games because of the instant gratification that comes with them. But recently I've been craving story that moves me, back in the days when I had time I played WoW, Final Fantasy, Bioshock and Fallout and loved them all. I recently re-downloaded WoW and found the new game mechanics unbearable, picked up Fallout 4 and got really bored and didn't care about anything that happened, downloaded FF 6 and could barely get past the intro and finally replayed the bioshock series and got only small satisfaction out of it.
I feel I've been ruined by these instant gratification games! However there is hope, the only games that make me feel anything recently have been the Dark Souls series...but there are some caveats. I've noticed half of the reason I'm playing is to look at the scenery and character design and just how beautiful it all is. Also while playing alone I've found myself going to Overwatch after a few deaths, which is a relatively short period of time. The only time I've really enjoyed it is playing with my roomates where we pass the controller every death and strategize together.
So can anyone help a very picky aging gamer with some suggestions on what to try next?
tldr; I don't have a lot of time, I crave good story. Enjoyed FF, WoW, bioshock and Fallout in my past but now find them mostly unplayable. A social dark souls sounds like what I want. Help?
