When something "tastes funny"

Can you describe what the "funny" is? I was drinking water from a clear bottle all day, refilled it a few times. Out of nowhere, after briefly leaving my room, I go to take a sip and it tasted odd... not like "stale water" odd, but like it was somewhat fizzy and tasted barely of something fake-fruity. I felt it especially on the center strip of my tongue, it made it tingle. I was immediately alarmed, I took a second sip to make sure I was tasting it and it definitely was present. The thought crossed my mind that my sibling added something to the water while I was out of the room. Dumped the water just in case. Sound familiar?
