I've moved on. (A recovery from a person who obtained it via trauma.)

Back when I first got dpdr. It was terrifying. I often worried how would this ever end. (Not to mention my constant HPPD like symptoms) I thought I was done for. I had heard about depersonalization long before I got it. So I thought it was way worse then it actually is. Anyways I was so scared. I remember laying in bed for a whole week having panic attacks every day. But that was a different time. It passed and I grew. That was back on august 1st. Which is a fateful day in my life because I had mental breakdowns on that day two years in a row, one leading to dpdr obviously. Now I have depersonalization just a little bit. My hppd is completely gone (I smoked something that didn't feel like my old weed highs at all , it was from a person with a bit of a rep as well if I remember correctly) I always knew this wasn't permanent. I was abused as a kid. I also witnessed two traumatic events. It couldn't be more bloody obvious were my dp came from. So with a self help program and therapy. I'm on 99%/100% everyday. This disorder is not only beatable, it is permanently curable in my opinion. This sub Reddit also helped me on my path. My only advice is, Just do it. Don't fucking worry about the spooky dpdr sensations. You gotta go to school or to work. You gotta hang out with your friends. You have to go to the gym etc. If you don't do this simple step you lost already and will continue to, the great news is that can change. Another tip, LOOK DEEPER. Past experiences effect you every waking moment of your life! They may cause your anxiety. Example: if you have social anxiety and you blush. You aren't just blushing JUST because you are nervous. Blushing is an expression of the emotion shame. Shame is a defensive mechanism. A lot of people with social anxiety are full of shame from their past. (take it from me.) Dpdr is a defensive response. That's why not everyone has it. Your brain developed it due to your circumstances. Now you can disagree with me but dpdr is a dissociative disorder and therefore a defense mechanism (That's a fact.)

If you don't agree with me. Just remember Dpdr is beatable regardless. I've done it. So can you.

Things I found helpful. -therapy -vigorous exercise -magnesium -lions mane supplements -fish oil -Vitamin B complex -Vitamin D -Acceptance (acting in spite of dpdr) -Harris Harrington's program (total game changer.)

Things that triggered me HORRIBLY. -Advil. (No longer triggers) -Ibuprofen (No longer triggers) -Caffeine (No longer triggers) -Weed (Haven't tried it yet again, but it looks like it is promising as many people say they can after. Others say different but I make it a personal goal to beat dpdr to the point were it is eradicated from my mind.) -Zoloft (screw that stuff never again) -HPPD symptoms (gone).

The existential thoughts are also a lot of bullshit. "Am I real." thinking that means you exist in some sort of plane of existence. Dpdr also helped me realize I was always ruminating about what if existence is an illusion. Hell if you really think that's a reasonable thought, the idea of nonexistence is just as unreasonable. I mean think about it. What if the state of non existence (oblivion) is just a way the mind explains phenomena like death or birth.) Don't take your thoughts to seriously. You will never find out the true nature of the phenomenon known as free will. You will never find out how we exist. You will never find out why. You aren't going psychotic. Accept this as reality and even if you have scary thoughts telling otherwise. Go live regardless. I often thought when I was in periods of existential rumination. Maybe there is no god, maybe we don't have free will, maybe we don't actually "exist". But fuck that. I'm going to live. Looking back at it. I don't believe a damn thing that dpdr told me. It only ended up strengthening my beliefs in the end. I read hours after hours of philosophy due to it and actually ironically started to enjoy it.
