My SP3 was hacked today...
Was puttering around on the interwebs, and decided I'd make myself a bowl of cereal. Put it down (didn't close anything or turn the screen off,) poured the cereal, and came right back to see some folders that I hadn't been in were open. Weird. What really messed me up was as I was wondering how that happened, the on-screen pointer started moving on it's own and selecting files...
As soon as I realized someone had remote access to my computer, I panicked and did a hard reset (it was the fastest way I could think of to turn it off...) It's pretty frustrating. I don't download weird illicit shit, I don't go to weird porn sites (mostly) and this still happened. Full disclosure- I was only using Defender, so I probably had this coming.
Long story short, I couldn't find the program they used to access my computer, so I'm scrubbing the drives, doing a fresh install, and I'm in the market for some security upgrades, and off it's not too much trouble, off like your advice. What are you guys using for anti virus/anti malware these days? Thanks
